ESO PVP U50 IceReach Cyrodiil

 Short Observation

Designed for new ESO players to get a handle on PVP areas, IceReach has morphed into a challenge layer for experienced PVP-ers. The intent of the under 50 campaign was to allow lower-level characters a "safer" feel for this style play, but the beacon of competition invites.

Cyrodiil's IceReach has also become a mecca for the lag frustrated in the Champion Point campaign tired of waiting in never ending queues just for the possibility of a quick disconnect (dc).

Whether your U50 PVP IceReach adventure began as a potential challenge, a solution fix, an undiscovered location, or by accident, making Cyrodiil your own does require persistence, patience, and will. Looking up the U50 PVP Guild Root of The Red, GuildMaster Dry Root will get you started in the right direction.

First Stop in Cyrodiil for All Characters

Hard recommendation to bring all characters into Cyrodiil at level 10 (as soon as the character is allowed) regardless of PVP possibility. At level 10 your mount speed is likely lacking. A quick visit and Welcome to Cyrodiil questline will amend the turtle crawl enough to tolerate it. Finish the Siege Warfare and Reporting for Duty quests and Assault and Support are now level 2. Add a skill line point to the first passive in Assault and your mount is 30 percent faster. Just like that. Also, creating characters ahead of playing them allows time to level the mount every day. Log in, level mount, log into next, etc. Saves money on mount upgrades.

Brand New Players

New players will likely want to do some light reading on PVP and Cyodiil in general, here is an older but informative link to help ESO PVP And Cyrodiil Guide » ESO Academy

Some Abbreviations of note in PVP chat:

KC Kingscrest Keep, Chal Chalman Keep, all the Keeps have these. Here is a list of all the major keeps.

Outposts Sej Sejanus, WP Winters Peak, learn the names and locations.

Before lfg ("looking for group" typed in local chat) try to purchase and slot at least 3 or 4 Pact Ballista and 10 or 20 wooden door repair kits. This is bare minimum considering you may not have enough alliance points yet to spend but you also want to be useful with siege. Check your food buff timer, check to see if your gear needs repair from PVE, and make sure your weapon charges are full. Do you have extra Soul Gems to resurrect other players?

After finding a group: #1. Stay with Crown (group leader) unless Crown changes plan. If your mount is slow, let Crown know, they may send the slower mounts to the next location (gives time to arrive before battle is over). #2. Stay with Crown ") #3. If a Battering Ram is deployed at the door, Pact Ballista can be set up around it, but stay on Ram unless there are too many players there already (6). #4. Know the groups healers and stay close. #5. Coms (mics, headsets, etc.) should be free of regular talking during battle. Crown often needs to alert group of incoming. #6. What if I get into a group where Dry Root isn't Crown? Know that there are great Crowns and there are not ahead of time. But, when you choose to stay in a group, Stay with Crown. Dry Root, the leader of Root of The Red Guild, is an exceptional Crown. Following an exceptional Crown will make you a better player. Having played ESO from week one, many Crowns have lead groups I attended but very few are exceptional (less than 10). It should take only a few minutes to spot which you are in.

Get to know player names from Local Chat, pay attention to who is talking, confident, and making logical sense. It helps first to watch and listen before questions. There are also "shock troop" groups. smaller, quicker to jump around and flag property to confuse the enemy. Callouts of troop movements will happen in chat as well, outside the group chat. Remember the names of those who use direction (either N, S, E, W or lumber side, etc. Proper). Calling out left or right, no good ... whose left? Also helps when calling out is numbers and color. 5 b ls KC, 5 blue lumber side Kingscrest. (fd front door, sw south wall, rss Resources, etc.) Crown might also request door percentage, What's the door at? They are determining how long it will take the enemy to breach the door. When enemy breeches door, it is best for newer players to get to the inner keep, go upstairs and learn about oils.

Be quick to sneak if group or Crown does. Stay away from Nightblades if they are scouting stealth, giving up their position is problematic ")

Be sure to turn on all the Combat numbers in your options menu as well. Go through and read all the options to show Buffs, Healing, and Damage. This should get you started and learning the rest will come, no worries. Have fun, listen to and follow Crown, learn as you go, and try not to be quick to get your feelings hurt ") Fun is the best thing to have but it is often fleeting.

Thoughts for Players with Champion Points

IceReach U50 PVP vs. GreyHost CP PVP

Night and day literally. The custom or min/max attribute point allocation all into Health, Stamina, or Magicka does not apply here.

The character variables include Armor Sets, Enchantment Glyphs, Alchemy Poison slotted or no, Weapon selection, Food or Drink buffs, Skill Lines and Morphs.

Armor Sets Here is a link, talk to friends both new and old, and then match to your playstyle.

Enchantment Glyphs enhance weapons and armor to "fill in the blank spaces". Getting your health to 30k seems a good idea by the majority of players asked but you decide.

Alchemy Poison Here is a link.

Many U50 PVP players fancy maces for dual wield or two-hand. Ice and fire staffs selected over lightning with resto staff or one hand and shield on back bar. Poison and disease are good bow options to consider.

Players palates prefer the Bewitched Sugar Skulls or any purple recipe that scale with level like Witchmother's Potent Brew.

Skill lines and Morphs are left with no added input from this blog. There are far too many Internet choices, friend advice, and ideas to cover concisely here. ESO Cyrodiil IceReach U50 PVP is the place to discover, test and tweak. Say hello to Dry Root in Root of The Red Guild!

What Do I Do When the Map Is Red?

ESO IceReach U50 PVP Map in Cyrodiil is mostly in flux but there are occasions, that happen enough to warrant this post, when every Keep, Outpost, and Town are Red. What is left to do you say?

46 Count them 46 Skyshards are available for your Skill Point Pleasure. 3Skyshards, 1 Skill Point. Two links Here and Here.

Towns and Quests

The towns that can be conquered (AvA alliance vs. alliance) are Bruma to the north, Cropsford to the east, and Vlastrous to the southwest. These three towns all have Daily Quests, wayshrines, armories with set gear, and merchants for siege and set gear. Cheydinhal, Weynon Priory, Chorrol are extra, mostly alliance neutral towns with Daily Quests. Entering Cyrodiil at level 10-20 makes for a perfect time to discover these town quests. Rewards include Cyrodiil Citrus, AP, XP, Gold, and PVP Set Gear to get you started.

10 World Event Dolmen waiting to drop a Cold Fire Ballista or Trebuchet.

18 Delves to peruse at your leisure. Delves serve to house Skyshards and are useful when going for the title of Emperor. Killing a Delve Boss grants a 20% AP Buff for an hour.

There is a complete list of random and Fighters Guild Quests to partake in. Find the lists here:  Great Discovery List

If all else fails, mount up, pick a direction, and ride, the countryside is beautiful this time of year. Better yet, ride with Dry Root and Root of The Red Guild in IceReach ")
